The GovLab Crowdsourcing Advisor:
How and when to use crowdsourcing
Allowing institutions leverage the wisdom and expertise spread in the crowd.
Improving a project’s efficiency, legitimacy and diversity.
Opening problem solving to other kinds of expertise.
Leveraging on the interactivity, asynchronicity, adaptability and creative participation enabled by the Internet.
We start from the proposition that there is no one way of “doing crowdsourcing” but, rather, engagement must be tailored to each needs and circumstances. Through our Advisor and Knowledge-Base, we attempt to help decision-makers in the public and private sector make an informed decision about when and how to use crowdsourcing.
